Hi Sam, good to hear from you. In my view Derrida is the man - Cixous and de Certeau I've managed to largely avoid, and strangely enough I've never found myself in a situation where I've felt at a loss for having done so.

Excellent stuff Ryan. (Sister Neuron pointed me to your de-deconstructionist masterpiece.) Ironically, in my mercifully hazy recollection of French academic twatmanship, I think of Derrida as among the lesser offenders. Michel de Certeau and Hélène Cixous jointly get my vote as the most verbally incontinent bilgespraffers ever to rob numberless innocent undergraduates of hours, grades, inner peace and the love of language. Because really, having waded through boundlessly prolix, insufferably smug, ostensibly playful yet fundamentally priggish Cixous tomes, or navigated the treacherous pretension-minefields of one of de Certeau's massively tautological, self-important, self-referential, meta-cretinous, sesquipedalian litanies of puffed-up codswallop, can you ever consider literature to be other than a migraine-inducing poison?

hey ryano. we must discuss Derrida more often. always already my mind is filled with new (at least to me) notions, concepts, ponderings, musings and good ideas, (unlike the bad-eyed deer which didn't see the hunter)!

Thanks Eoin. I wrote this a few years ago when I had more free time to be, um, creative. Feel free to pass it around if you know of anyone who might appreciate it.
